As a member of this class, you are encouraged to keep notes, post homework, publish writing, and contribute to the class electronically. It is completely optional, but as I allow time in class for this sort of activity, it will become easier for you to succeed in this class if you are posting your work here. Plus, it is a lot of fun too!
Organizing Your Wiki
Once you have created your wiki (using your first name and a number only), your own work space, you can create spaces there for each of your subjects (just like the directory you created in your network folder). Your space (first name and a number) is the parent directory, and every space within it a child. Please create one for english_10 (don't use caps, don't use the space bar. It might be helpful to create your space using another internet browser tab so that you can keep these directions handy.
Once you have created your space, write a little intro. explaining what you will use the space for. Do not give personal information as this is not your social-networking site. Save that for your spare time. Instead, write about the class a little. You are welcome to write about how it is conducted (and by whom), but just remember, I will be reading it too. As a matter of fact, I am your primary audience. After you have added all of your content to that page, it is very important that you hit the SAVE button (on the right-hand side).
I will give you instructions in class for organizing your english_10 space and editing your navigation. In a nutshell, I want you to organize by creating a home page (which you already have), a classworkand notes page, a homework page, a group projects page, and a major writing assignments page. You can add more at a later date, but let's begin here.
Turning In Assignments
The first assignment I want you to post is the exported .gif file you created of your Harrison Bergeron Cause and Effect Graphic Organizer (who came up with that long title?!). I will give you instructions in class for posting it there.
When you have completed this much of your space, please send a message (by clicking on the little envelope icon up by your space name) to kmcnulty. That will be how you turn it in.
